This week, the prices of ternary, pure cobalt, and LFP black mass remained stable, with most enterprises maintaining low operational rates.

【Public Announcement on the Approval Decision of Hunan Yuneng's LFP Black Mass Recycling Project】The project covers an area of approximately 32 mu, with a construction area of about 19,000 m². It primarily involves the construction of an LFP black mass recycling production line and a 20,000 mt/year battery-grade lithium carbonate production line (Phase I), with a total investment of 514.98 million yuan. The project uses lithium sulphate solution, crude lithium carbonate, and industrial-grade LFP powder as raw materials, focusing on the production of battery-grade lithium carbonate.

【100,000 mt LFP Project Launched in Meishan, Sichuan】On January 9, the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission issued a review opinion on the energy-saving report for the 100,000 mt/year LFP cathode material project by Wanhua Chemical (Sichuan) Battery Materials Technology Co., Ltd. The 100,000 mt LFP project will be constructed in two phases, with Phase I expected to be completed and operational by December 2025.

【10,000 mt Lithium Carbonate Construction Project Launched in Hunan】Hunan Ziting Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd. plans to invest 200 million yuan to build a 10,000 mt/year battery-grade lithium carbonate project within its existing plant area. The project covers an area of approximately 48,488 m² and mainly includes: 1. Adjusting the plant's production from high-purity zinc ingots to lithium carbonate, ceasing the production of high-purity zinc ingots, with a lithium carbonate production capacity of 10,000 mt/year; 2. Dismantling the original high-purity zinc ingot production line and electrodeposition workshop, constructing a new lepidolite processing workshop, MVR workshop, and warehouse, purchasing additional production facilities such as tunnel kilns, and utilizing some existing production facilities while relying on the original leaching workshop, purification workshop, and public auxiliary facilities to build the lithium carbonate production line.

【25,000 mt Lithium Carbonate Project Launched in Fujian】Recently, the Fujian Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology issued a public announcement on the review opinion of the energy-saving report for the 25,000 mt/year battery-grade lithium carbonate project by Fujian Zijin Lithium Materials Technology Co., Ltd. The project is expected to be completed and operational by December 2025. Upon reaching full production, the project will add an annual comprehensive energy consumption of 22,589.97 tce (equivalent value) and 33,125.24 tce (calorific value). Using crude lithium carbonate as raw material, the project adopts a carbonisation process and produces battery-grade lithium carbonate through procedures such as washing, evaporation, carbonisation, impurity removal, thermal decomposition, drying, and packaging.

【78,000 mt Lithium Battery Recycling Project Officially Launched in Jiangsu】Nantong Qingjing Renewable Resources Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nantong Beixin New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., primarily engages in resource recycling. The approved capacity includes the annual treatment of 40,000 mt ternary lithium batteries, 20,000 mt LFP batteries, and 180,000 mt waste flux. Among these, the 180,000 mt/year waste flux recycling line passed environmental protection acceptance on July 11, 2024, while the ternary lithium battery and LFP battery dismantling and recycling lines are still under construction.

【Hunan Lithium Battery Recycling Project Expansion】Recently, the People's Government of Leiyang City, Hunan Province, accepted the environmental impact report for the "Recycling and Utilisation of Waste Lithium Batteries and Lithium-Containing Scrap and Battery-Grade Lithium Carbonate Industrialisation Project Expansion." This project, undertaken by Hunan Keyking Recycling Technology Co., Ltd., involves the recycling and utilisation of waste lithium batteries and lithium-containing scrap, as well as the industrialisation and expansion of battery-grade lithium carbonate production. The expansion project involves an investment of 200 million yuan, primarily focusing on changes in raw material and product processing scales. The changes include increasing the processing scale of waste ternary batteries, off-cuts, and battery powder from 25,000 mt/year to 45,000 mt/year; deep processing of lithium chemicals and lithium-containing scrap (crude lithium phosphate, crude lithium fluoride, crude lithium carbonate, crude lithium chloride, crude lithium sulphate, crude lithium hydroxide, crude lithium aluminate, lithium waste glass, etc.) from 7,183 mt/year to 27,073 mt/year; reducing the processing scale of LFP batteries, off-cuts, and battery powder from 150,000 mt/year to 50,000 mt/year; and maintaining the processing scale of lithium metal batteries at 10,000 mt/year.
